Our commitment
We don’t gatekeep information here. Learning is for everyone.
That belief shapes how TurnPyke Academy teaches and how this website is built. We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is ongoing work, so we will keep testing, listening and improving as the website grows.
What we have built in
- Meaningful text alternatives for informative images
- Empty text alternatives for decorative or repeated images so screen readers can skip them
- Keyboard access, a skip link and visible focus indicators
- Clear page headings, landmarks and descriptive link text
- Labels and screen reader feedback for forms and the Daily Torque question
- Colour contrast improvements and layouts that adapt to smaller screens and text resizing
- Reduced motion support for people who prefer less animation
Daily Torque and articles
The Daily Torque can be completed with a keyboard and announces the selected answer, result and explanation to assistive technology. Articles use structured headings and readable text. When an article includes an informative image, it will include a useful description.
Tell us about a barrier
If something is difficult to see, hear, understand or operate, please tell us. Include the page or feature, what happened and the format that would work better for you. We will do our best to provide the information another way and fix the barrier.
